Tips to Rock Your Boudoir Session

Boudoir-Babes.jpg

I am so excited to announce a super special day at the end of this month. I am once again collaborating with the amazing Amanda and Jacqueline of The Green Beauty Collective, to put on the ultimate boudoir experience! We’ve rented a stunning, bright studio full of plants in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood of Vancouver, which is going to be the perfect spot for the most dreamy photos. This is a great time to either treat yourself or a special someone just in time for the holidays!

Date: November 25th, 2018

What to Expect:

  • Lots of laughs, support, and encouragement from Jacqueline, Amanda, and I!

  • A glass of champagne or kombucha, or a cup of tea (to calm the nerves or a cool photo prop)

  • Music of your choice to make you feel at ease and feelin’ your best

  • 30 minutes of beautiful hair and makeup by The Green Beauty Collective using all natural and sustainable products

  • 30 minutes of shooting with unlimited outfit changes

  • Props provided: 2 Lack of Colors hats, mug, pillows, sheets, mirror, and anything in the studio

What to Wear:

  • Lingerie, bodysuits, pjs, or nothing at all. Anything that’s going to make you feel your most gorgeous and raw self.

Props to Think About Bringing:

  • A book, layers to undress (cardigan, jeans, a robe, etc), flowers, own mug, funky glasses, cute hat, own blanket/pillows, cozy knee high socks, an outfit change, jewelry, and anything else you desire!

The Why:

  • In the past, I struggled with extreme body image issues (who hasn’t?!). What helped me learn to accept and love myself exactly as I am, started all with gratitude for this human body. Without it, I wouldn’t be here! So I decided to start to give it the recognition it deserved. With a lot of work, one day I chose to love it all - flaws included.

  • As a photographer, I am so inspired by vulnerability and the human form. I love how unique we all are, yet at the same time, we are all the same. I draw inspiration from our human-ness, our imperfectness, and our flaws.

  • I want to show women that it’s OK to love our bodies, that it’s not shameful. I love to capture the unique beauty of a person, and let their light shine through. I want you to treasure these photos as a moment in your life where you felt beautiful, radiant, sexy, and free.

Some More Tips:

  • Breathe. I like to get my clients to close their eyes and take a few deep breaths in help relax.

  • Trust Me! Girl, I got you. I know how awkward it feels to be in front of the camera. No need to think about poses or if you’re going to look awkward, I have many natural poses to get you in feeling super comfortable and natural. The more you’re able to trust me, the better your photos are going to turn out.

  • Start thinking about what you might wear now, so then you won’t be panicked the day of! Think about how it fits and how you feel in it. You want to feel your most comfortable, so choose something that’s going to make you feel great.

  • This session is all about YOU. Do painted nails/fake tan/etc. make you feel good? Do it. If not, don’t! We don’t care what you look like: big/small, dark/pale, scars, acne, etc. We are all equal and every body is a perfect body. Period.
